1. Burrtec Agua Mansa Transfer Station

Description: Get an insider’s view of one of the region’s largest Material Recovery Facilities (MRF). This tour takes you through the "Life of a Recyclable," showing how household and commercial waste is sorted, processed, and diverted from landfills. It is an eye-opening look at the massive scale of local waste management and sustainability efforts.

 

2. WRCRWA Wastewater Treatment Plant

Description: Hosted by the Western Riverside County Regional Wastewater Authority, this tour explains how wastewater from your home is transformed into high-quality recycled water. You’ll walk through the tertiary treatment process and see the state-of-the-art technology used to minimize odors and protect the Santa Ana River ecosystem.

3. Henry J. Mills Water Treatment Plant

Description: Located just east of Mission Grove, this Metropolitan Water District facility is where much of our local drinking water is purified. Learn about the ozone disinfection process and the complex filtration systems that treat water imported from Northern California to ensure it meets the highest safety standards.

 

4. Regional Metro Water Recycling Facility (Pure Water Demo)

Description: Experience the future of water reliability at the Pure Water Southern California Innovation Center. This demonstration plant showcases advanced purification technology—including membrane filtration and UV light—to turn recycled water into a sustainable drinking source. The tour often concludes with an optional "taste test" of the purified water.

 

5. Behind the Scenes: Riverside City Hall

Description: Ever wondered how a city actually functions? This "Backstage Pass" to Corona City Hall introduces you to the departments that manage everything from public safety to city planning. Meet city officials, visit the Council Chambers, and learn how local government decisions impact the Mission Grove area.

 

6. Corona Farms Fresh Produce

Description: Step onto a working family farm in the heart of Riverside. This tour highlights local agriculture, soil health, and water conservation. You’ll see how seasonal favorites like strawberries, beets, and carrots are grown organically and harvested daily for the community.

 

7. Amazon Fulfillment Center (Logistics Tour)

Description: Walk through a massive 1-million-square-foot warehouse to see the "Pick, Pack, and Ship" process in action. You’ll see miles of conveyor belts and the famous Kiva robots that help Amazon associates fulfill thousands of orders every hour. It is a fascinating look at the high-tech reality of modern e-commerce.
