Dear Mayor, City Council, and Staff,
On behalf of the Mission Grove Neighborhood Alliance (MGNA) and other Riverside residents, I would like to formally request a change in the agenda for the upcoming City Council Meeting scheduled for August 20, 2024. Specifically, we kindly ask that Item 14 on the CONSENT calendar, regarding the KMART Apartment project and the response to the ALUC report, be moved to a separate discussion and allow for public comment.
We believe that this agenda item does not meet the qualification for a CONSENT item, as it is not routine in nature and is likely to be subject to debate and inquiry. With over 350 pages of public comment on this project, it is essential that the community has the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions.
Additionally, we request that the item be moved to an appropriate time in the evening, allowing the public to adequately address the issue to the Council. Furthermore, we kindly ask that the date for the ALUC public hearing be changed to December 10th to avoid any potential distractions close to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mission Grove Neighborhood Alliance represents over 20% of the city's population and covers almost 20 square miles. Our commitment to protecting the quality of life for all residents, safety, and security for all, and the enforcement of laws and regulations that promote freedom and opportunity is unwavering.
We sincerely appreciate your consideration of these requests and look forward to a productive and collaborative City Council Meeting on August 20, 2024.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
